Attendance at Silver Beach County Park is up this year, especially when it comes to visitors who live outside of Berrien County. That’s according to Berrien County Parks Director Brian Bailey, who says through the end of June, non-resident attendance was almost double what it was at the same time last year.

“Through the end of June of this year, it was just short of 10,000, or 9,957,” Bailey told WSJM. “Compare that to ’15 and ’14 and ’13, the closest year is 2014, and that would be 5,511, so nearly doubled in the past three years.”

Not only that, but Bailey says revenues at Silver Beach were up by 99% over the previous year at the end of June. He says the growing popularity of the attraction and the area, in general, are likely the reasons. Bailey says parks staff will soon be discussing whether any changes in operations will be necessary in future years in response to the growing attendance.
