A northern Indiana museum that pays homage to the Studebaker Corp. is putting a spotlight on the outdoor laboratory where the one-time automaker tested its vehicles. The Studebaker National Museum is marking the Studebaker Proving Ground’s 90th anniversary with an exhibit titled “Proving the Product: Studebaker’s Proving Ground.”

The the exhibit features images and videos chronicling the proving ground’s long history as an outdoor laboratory. The exhibit runs through January 22 at the South Bend museum. Studebaker’s proving ground was located west of South Bend near New Carlisle. A portion of that land is now Bendix Woods County Park. That area includes trees that were originally planted in the shape of the word “Studebaker.”
