The Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department is offering senior citizens a chance to get their cars checked for safety next week. The department’s Rick Smiedendorf tells WSJM News Car Fit inspections will be held Wednesday at the Berrien Springs Public Schools Virtual Academy. They’ll make sure everything is situated properly.

“It’s using some trained volunteers to go over some things on the car with the senior just to make sure that the car is a good fit for them,” Smiedendorf said.

The goal of the Car Fit inspections is to increase a senior’s safety and mobility when they hit the road. You can just show up at the school between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. or you can make an appointment by calling the Central County Senior Center at 471-2017. Car Fit is a program of the AARP and AAA.
