Information continues to become available about reports of gunshots fired outside Godwin Heights football stadium right after the Benton Harbor Football game Friday night.

WSJM Sports Play by Play Announcer Jon Wallace says there were just wrapping up the game broadcast and said there were sounds of gunshots in the parking lot. He says fans and players ran back into the stadium and headed toward the locker rooms for safety. He said the public address announcer warned everyone to seek shelter.

According to our reporting partners at WNDU, a reporter from their sister station, WOOD-TV was conducting an interview with Benton Harbor Coach Elliot Uzelac when they heard the shots.

Reporter: “What do you think this team can do this year?”
Uzelac: “I don’t know, it’s hard because you never know what’s gonna happen…”
[shots fired]
Uzelac: “when they leave school”
[shots fired, screaming]
Uzelac: “Holy s***”

There were no injuries reported and all Benton Harbor players and fans were able to leave the stadium safely and returned to Benton Harbor by bus. Benton Harbor won the football game 58-41.
