State Representative Al Pscholka is capping off his six years in the House by being named the Legislator of the Year by the Michigan Sheriff’s Association. The Stevensville Republican called the recognition from law enforcement something that means a “great deal” to him personally. The MSA notes Pscholka was among the driving forces behind a new law that extendes benefits for the survivors of law enforcement officials killed in the line of duty. State Senator Wayne Schmidt of Traverse City, who championed that issue in the upper chamber, won the honor in the Senate. Pscholka and Schmidt will have awards presented to them on Monday.
