The Van Buren District Library will use the month of November to help collect food for local pantries. Director Ryan Wieber tells WSJM News, during VBDL Cares November, anyone who owes late fees to the library can contribute to the food drive and be forgiven.

“Patrons, if they owe fines up to $5, if they bring in canned goods, we can waive those fines for that time period and at the same time help those food pantries,” Wieber said.

Of course, you don’t have to owe late fees to the library to donate. They’ll be collecting food at each of the Van Buren District Library’s seven locations, and the items will go to pantries in each community. You can find out more at VBDL.org.
