With hunting season underway, Consumers Energy is reminding all those folks who head into the woods to remember its own property is off limits. Spokesperson Roger Morgenstern tells our newsroom hunting on company property could mean damaged equipment or hurt workers. Pay attention to where you go.

“Many of the rights of way where you see the wires above, that is owned by Consumers Energy, as well as areas around our substations, as well as our power plants,” Morgenstern said.

Consumers does offer a few exceptions. Hunting is allowed near its Muskegon, Manistee, and Au Sable river dams. However, blinds, target shooting, bating, burning, and fire pits are still not allowed.
