The weather this winter is expected to be colder and snowier than usual. WNDU Meteorologist Mike Hoffman tells WSJM News not to be fooled by the warm fall we’ve been having.

“I know we’ve been very warm for the fall and a lot of people think it’s just going to continue, but I don’t see that,” Hoffman said. “In fact, there are signs to me that December turns very cold, unlike the last two or three that have been very mild Decembers and then we end up getting all of our cold in January and February.”

Hoffman expects more than 80 inches of snow for Berrien County this year. The average is about 66. You can start bracing yourself for the cold now, as the snow is likely to start falling this weekend. Hoffman thinks we’ll get it Saturday, although he doesn’t expect any to stick.
