The Michigan Department of Transportation will soon begin a couple of big repaving projects in Van Buren County. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa tells WSJM News work on I-196 near South Haven will begin next Monday.

“We are doing a little over 2.5 miles of southbound,” Schirripa said. “It’s between County Road 380 and County Road 378. It’s a $690,000 project, and it’s going to start Monday, April 17 and run through May 19.”

There will be single lane closures, so give yourself extra time when driving through. Also starting Monday is the repaving of M-40 from north of Paw Paw to the Allegan County line. That $1.3 million project will last about a month and mean moving lane closures.
