The full Michigan House will soon hear a bill to allow golf carts to be driven on state trunk lines if certain safety provisions are met. State Representative Aaron Miller of Constantine sponsored the measure because he says the communities of Constantine and Colon each have rivers running through town.

“The only way to cross that river in those communities is by one bridge, just one,” Miller said. “In both of those communities, the one bridge in question happens to be a state trunk line bridge, which is expressly prohibited in the current law.”

Miller says the legislation won’t allow golf carts to be driven on all state roads. He says it’s only about where it is needed. The Michigan Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has approved the bill.
