The Trump administration has announced huge tariffs on things like solar panels and imported washing machines to give an edge to U.S. products. Michigan News Network Business Editor Murray Feldman tells us that’s music to the ears of Michigan-based Whirlpool.

“Whirlpool says it will add some 200 jobs at four plants because of the rule which would make their washing machines more price competitive,” Feldman said. “Reaction from some of our trading partners? China says the tariffs an ‘abuse,’ South Korea plans to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization.”

Mexico says it will use all legal means to make sure the U.S. meets its international obligations.
