It’s almost moving day for the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan. Director Jill Svoboda tells WSJM News the new shelter in Royalton Township is pretty much ready, and they’re just waiting for a green light from the township to move in, which could come in a few weeks. She tells us the new facility was very much needed.
“We are anxiously awaiting,” Svoboda said. “We cannot wait. We cannot wait to get over there, and we can’t wait to have an open house and show the community what they’ve built.”
The Humane Society has been trying to find forever homes for as many of its animals ahead of the move so the process can be easier. It’s also asking supporters for donations of supplies, as Svoboda says they would be housewarming gifts. If you’d like to help, look for their Amazon wish list on the organization’s website.
