State Senator John Proos is putting the word out to young people in southwest Michigan about the Michigan Attorney General’s OK2Say tip line. Proos tells WSJM News it’s an anonymous way someone can report a potentially-dangerous situation in their school. He notes OK2Say is especially relevant right now given all of the talk about school shootings.

“81% of all of the incidents of school violence, according to the United States Secret Service, there’s someone other than the attacker,” Proos said. “There was somebody who knew, but didn’t report for fear of retaliation, and we don’t want anybody to be fearful.”

Proos tells us it’s everyone’s responsibility to speak to someone when they know something violent may happen at a school. You can reach OK2Say by sending a text to OK2SAY or calling 1-855-OK2SAY. The state has received more than 10,000 tips via OK2Say since it launched in 2015.
