School systems around the country are reviewing their security systems and procedures, including in Bangor. Bangor Public Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson tells WSJM News the work is ongoing.

“We’ve done a lot,” Johnson said. “We’re working with the local county through the ISD Crisis Management Team, and we’re also doing our own evaluation of our schools and so forth. we’re having some engineers come out.”

Johnson told us that upgrading and expanding the security camera coverage, as well as upgrading keyed or possibly a keyless entry system in the buildings, are among many items being examined by the school system to ensure safety for both students and staff.
