Across the state, debate on ways to improve Michigan’s roads is ongoing. State Representative John Bizon says technology needs to be a priority in future infrastructure upgrades. He told Michigan News Network the possibilities are endless.

“I even saw some recent advertisements on TV dealing with smart roads where there are sensors embedded in the roads to help control the traffic lights,” Bizeon. “Although that might not help the roads to last longer, that technology could be very helpful on our roads, on our travels to and from work.”

As for roadway quality itself, the Battle Creek Republican says future spending needs to incorporate technology that harbors a long-lasting solution. He does admit incorporating technology into road planning is going to cost more.
