The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says it’s found shelters for almost all of the more than 100 dogs it seized during an animal cruelty investigation last month. Sergeant Dan Abbot says shelters all across Michigan have taken in the animals.

“All of the cats have been placed,” Abbot told WSJM. “The dogs, 102 of them, have been placed. There are six left. The other five are actually going to a facility on Wednesday. So, after Wednesday, we’ll be down to just one dog.”

Abbot says the animals who needed medical attention have received it. He says the community has shown a great deal of support for the animal shelter since the investigation began, telling us people have offered food, bed, blankets, and more for the animals.
