Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee says he doubts last week’s deadly sniper shooting in Dallas will lead to any meaningful gun reforms. The Flint Democrat says, after incidents in Dallas and Orlando, he’s grown frustrated by Republicans in the House.

“Those who oppose those reasonable steps that many of us want to take argue that, by themselves, those steps won’t entirely solve the problem,” Kildee said. “That doesn’t justify not doing the things that we can do.”

Kildee says politics are getting in the way of policy agreements behind closed doors. After the tragedy, President Obama on Friday renewed calls for stricter gun measures.
