Michigan State Police Trooper Steve Barker says he is thankful to have worked with both Ron Kienzle and Joe Zangaro in his law enforcement career, which began 18 years ago with the Benton Township Police Department. Barker spoke at a candlelight vigil in downtown St. Joseph last night to remember the two court bailiffs who were killed on Monday.

“These are trying times for law enforcement,” Barker told the crowd. “On behalf of me and other law enforcement here, we appreciate the showing tonight.”

Barker worked with Kienzle at the start of his career, and later worked for Zangaro in his first assignment with the Michigan State Police. Zangaro’s funeral will be Friday, while arrangements for Kienzle have not been released yet.
