Lake Michigan College has received high marks from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for its efforts to accommodate veterans. The agency’s Dichondra Johnson says LMC has been ranked in its gold category for how it handles vets.

“Lake Michigan college received their gold rank based on having an established process for identifying veterans, a website, they have veteran-specific career services, and they do have a designated point of contact for service veterans there,” Johnson told WSJM News.

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency evaluates colleges and universities according to seven criteria, and LMC passed in six. Last year, it was in the bronze category, so Johnson says it’s improved. She says Michigan currently has 13,000 veterans going to college on the post 911 G.I. Bill.
