Michigan roads will be crowded this weekend as more than one million people take advantage of Labor Day. AAA’s Gary Bubar tells WSJM News most folks are sticking to destinations within the state.

“Things that are closer to home,” Bubar said. “Parks, zoos, some of the museums and things like that, and also what you might consider traditional summer vacation destinations. Traverse City, Mackinac Island, Frankenmuth, or anywhere on the west side of the state.”

With school starting on Tuesday in most places, Bubar says people want to have to travel too far. He reminds everyone to buckle up, avoid distractions behind the wheel, and not to drink and drive.
