The Grand Rapids-based Bissell Pet Foundation is pleased with the results of its latest Empty the Shelters adoption event this past weekend. More than 1,900 dogs and cats at Michigan shelters found homes on Saturday as Bissell paid the adoption fees for them. That’s according to spokesperson Holly Kroeze.

“We partnered with 57 shelters who were just amazing during the day,” Kroeze told WSJM News. “They really took the time to make sure that every pet that was going home with a family was the right fit for that family.”

Kroeze says the last Empty the Shelters day resulted in about 60 animals finding homes. Among the shelters to take part were the Al-Van Humane Society in South haven and the Van Buren County Animal Control Shelter in Hartford.
