If everything goes as planned, Lake Michigan College will have a new president by the end of March. Board of Trustees Chair Mary Jo Tomasini gave WSJM News an update on the search for a new leader this week, saying the deadline for candidates is next month, and then the college will start whittling them down.

“We have 45 resumes that have come in so far, and we have a quite a few that look very promising,” Tomasini said. “The search committee is going through those resumes and ranking them, and the search committee will make recommendation for which candidates we will be doing initial Skype interviews the first week of December.”

Tomasini says the in-person interviews would be in January, once 2 to 4 finalists have been picked. She says the applications are coming in from all over the country, and many of the candidates have experience with 2-year colleges. She’s pleased with how the search is going.
