Leaders at Lake Michigan College have been busy for the past few months promoting the college’s millage proposal. LMC President Dr. Bob Harrison tells WSJM news staff and supporters have been hitting up a variety of organizations to speak of the millage’s benefits.

“We’ve approached about 60 non-profit organizations and governmental units and gone and made presentations with members of the community, and in general, they’ve been very well received,” Harrison said.

LMC is asking voters to approve 0.48 mills for 10 years. Harrison says they picked the November 8 election because it will likely have a high turnout, giving the maximum number of voters in LMC’s territory a chance to have a say. So far, nearly a thousand pro-millage signs have been posted around southwest Michigan, and supporters of LMC will be stationed at some intersections election day to further push the request.
