Amtrak’s Wolverine line is back up to full service now that some maintenance work on tracks in Calhoun and Jackson counties has been finished. Spokesperson Marc Magliari tells WSJM News it was a busy construction season.

“We and other folks working for MDOT have been working to correct some years of deferred maintenance, and need to make improvements because the objective is to reduce travel times by increasing train speeds and we can do that once all of this work is done,” Magliari said.

Magliari says the ultimate goal is to get the tracks prepared for faster trips between Detroit and Chicago. The Wolverine line now has three daily runs each way, and around Thanksgiving, they’ll add even more.
