Turnout is expected to be about 65% or more in Michigan, according to Secretary of State Ruth Johnson. She says absentee ballots are up 9% this year, and made one last appeal to everyone.
“There’s a lot of interest, and I call this the Super Bowl of democracy,” Johnson said. “It’s not a spectator sport. You need to get out and vote. People have given their lives so we could have this wonderful opportunity. It’s a treasure, and we need to take the time to do it.”
Department of Justice poll watchers will be on hand in many states, including Michigan. Johnson says if you have a problem at the poll, contact your local clerk or county clerk
