Still Plenty For MI Lawmakers To Do This Year

State Representative Aric Nesbitt says there’s still some work to do as the Michigan legislature heads into a lame duck session. The Lawton Republican will leave office at the end of this term, but tells us there’s time left to get a few things done.

“We’re going to continue to advance good policy in Michigan, and there are a lot of bills, a lot of legislation and member priorities that are out there,” Nesbitt said. “Some are on the five yard line at the first down, and I’d like to see them get through.”

Nesbitt says he hopes lawmakers will use the final weeks of 2016 to lead Michigan in a better direction. Among the things left for lawmakers to do this year are the approval of major energy policy legislation and the implementation of new third grade reading standards.
