Big box stores around southwest Michigan may be busy this week with the annual fun of Black Friday, but shops in downtown St. Joseph are inviting everyone to carve out some time the next day for Small Business Saturday. St. Joe Today’s Tess Carragher tells WSJM News there’s all kinds of stuff going on downtown.
“Lots and lots of stores have different specials and promotions, and a lot of them are really focusing on letting their customers know why it’s important to buy local and to stay local,” Carragher said.,
Plus, there will be horse-drawn carriage rides and free cookies and soup at the St. Joseph Welcome Center. Carragher notes that for every $100 you spend on a local business, $68 stays in the area.
