Part of the repackaging of the Affordable Care Act is now underway. Republicans released details of their ACA replacement this week, and Democrats like Congresswoman Debbie Dingell don’t like it. She spoke with Michigan News Network.

“Seniors are going to pay an age tax, and the life of the Medicare Trust Fund is going to be shortened,” Dingell said. “It appears that older Americans are going to be forced to pay premiums that are five times higher than what other people are paying. We need to make sure that seniors even have access to affordable, quality healthcare.”

Dingell says she’s praying that there are Republicans who won’t find the new plan acceptable. Already, there are, although for different reasons than her. West Michigan Republican Congressman Justin Amash has tweeted the GOP plan is just a repackaging of Obamacare, and a “political plan that signals retreat.” He’s called for a repeal.
