LaSata Praises Education Budget

State Representative Kim LaSata is praising the state House Appropriations Committee for approving a school budget this week. She tells us the plan includes increased funding for K-12 education and higher ed. LaSata is a chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and says they worked hard to craft a spending plan the focuses on the future of Michigan’s university students. Among other things, the plan passed this week by Appropriations includes a 2.3% increase for the state’s public universities, an increase of more than $100 per student for K-12 schools, and $129 million to help at-risk students. Legislative Republicans have tasked themselves with getting a new state budget approved by June.
