General Motors is encouraged by some new experiments in what are known as connected cars. The automaker has been working in Macomb County to wire some stoplights near its company’s Tech Center so that they send information to Cadillac test cars. Steve Martin, with Cadillac, told Michigan News Network early test results are positive.

“One of the things that the development engineers are working on is an alert that helps the driver avoid a dangerous decision, whether to brake abruptly or accelerate through a busy intersection,” Martin said.

No word yet as to when the system may be available.
