From Michigan News Network — Provide more tax incentives for larger companies that move to the state. That’s the idea behind bi-partisan legislation being debated in Lansing. On Mackinac Island this week, state Senator Jim Stamas urged the Michigan House to pass the bills.

“It’s 250 jobs for families,” Stamas said. “It’s 500 jobs. It’s a thousand jobs. It’s about making sure we are competitive, not only in the United States, but across the world.”

The Midland Republican says the “Good Jobs” package has the backing of Governor Rick Snyder. The proposed legislation would allow up to 15 qualifying businesses to capture a portion of income taxes paid by new hires. That’s if they successfully create hundreds of Michigan jobs which pay average or above-average wages.
