The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners has given its thumbs up to a buoy stationed off South Haven in Lake Michigan. This week, the board approved spending $5,000 to help pay for the buoy provided by an Ann Arbor company. Van Buren County Administrator John Faul tells WSJM News the info it collects is available to the public.

“The firm that’s placing it uses it to collect certain data, such as wind speeds, wave heights, water temperatures, etc.”

There’s also a webcam on the buoy. Faul tells us boaters should find the buoy useful when deciding whether to hit the lake for the day. You can find it right here.
