A couple of Berrien County Sheriff’s deputies have received their training to be corrections officers. Deputies Kristin Robbins and Miranda Bailey just finished their training academy at Olivet College. There, they learned about things like custody and security, defensive tactics, first aid, suicide awareness, fire safety, and interpersonal communications. The academy is certified by the Michigan Sheriffs Coordinating and Training Council, and the sheriff’s department tells us it provides deputies with the skills needed to maintain a safe and secure jail. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey congratulated his newly-trained corrections deputies.
