U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow says there will be a shortage of people to fill manufacturing jobs within the next seven years. She’s been holding workforce discussions statewide, visiting Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City on Thursday. Stabenow spoke with Michigan News Network.

“I think to grow the economy and to really have a middle class we need to focus on those skills and attracting people into making things,” Stabenow said.

Stabenow says four year college isn’t for everyone. She adds there are many private schools and community colleges that train people for skilled trades.
