The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man was killed by a train on Thursday morning. It happened in Marcellus at a CNN Railroad crossing around 10:30. Witnesses reported 27-year-old Logan Glenn Lamons was walking southbound on Burney Street near the tracks and looking down when he was hit. The train was sounding its horn, and the railroad crossing lights were flashing. Police believe Lamons was listening to music with some earbuds. The train activated its emergency brakes when Lamons was hit, and it stopped about 1 and a quarter mile from the crossing. Responding to the scene were Michigan State Police, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, and Marcellus Fire and Ambulance.
