State Representative Dave Pagel has been named the Legislator of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Social Workers. The Berrien Springs Republican was honored with the distinction due to his work on mental health care. Pagel is a member of a bipartisan House panel that spent part of the summer and fall traveling around Michigan to discuss how the corrections system and state government could better treat those suffering with a mental illness. Pagel says he “will always be a strong advocate for public education in our state, and will continue to work with my colleagues on the House CARES taskforce.”
