Benton Harbor City Commissioners have voted to move forward with work that could lead to medical marijuana dispensaries in the city. This past week, they approved the adoption of an ordinance allowing for such facilities. The move was a victory for Commissioner Mary Alice Adams, who has pushed to allow dispensaries in the city for several months.

“I’m looking for the great things to come out of what God allows to grow,” Adams said.

Adams said allowing medical marijuana dispensaries will improve the quality of life and allow for business growth. This week’s vote means the city planning commission will now be asked to draft up zoning rules to govern possible medical marijuana facilities according to state law.
