Indiana Michigan Power has received an award for its efforts to help with hurricane recovery this past summer. Spokesperson Schee Garrett tells WSJM News I&M stepped up to help with Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“For Hurricane Harvey, Indiana Michigan Power sent around 40 energy experts to the areas,” Garrett said. “Those include line workers, foresters, and safety and health representatives.”

Same thing with Irma a few weeks later. Garrett says the I&M crews who headed down south to help restore power worked long, hard hours away from their families for weeks at a time. The Edison Electric Institute, a utility industry group, has awarded I&M with its Emergency Assistance Award.
