Congressman Fred Upton lays the blame for this past weekend’s government shutdown on Democrats. He tells WSJM News it was the posturing of the Democrats on the issue of immigration that caused a major inconvenience for government workers and others.

“The deal that ultimately got passed Monday night was on the table and ready to go on Friday, so this really was unwise, to go into a shutdown,” Upton said.

The deal reached on Monday allows the government to continue operating for a few weeks with Senate Republicans promising Democrats they really will get to work on replacing the DACA program this time. Upton tells us he believes that DACA replacement can be approved by March 5. He previously predicted the DACA plan would come by the end of January. He says Congress has no choice on the issue.
