South Haven Area Emergency Services has received a new ladder truck. SHAES Chief Ron Wise spoke with WSJM News about the vehicle.

“It’s a new 75 foot ladder truck that replaces a 30 year old 50 foot ladder truck,” Wise said. “It’s got all the new technology, with LED lighting. Compared to the old truck, it looks 100 times brighter when it’s lighting up a scene.”

The new truck is equipped with the latest firefighting tools.

“It carries 1,200 gallons of water, whereas the old one only carried 950 gallons of water, and with the improved ability for setting it up quicker, our staff is able to deploy hose lines much faster off of this rig,” Wise said.

The ladder truck is home grown from Spencer Manufacturing of South Haven. It took 18 months to complete at a cost of $800,000
