There was testimony in Lansing Thursday from John Engler, the president of Michigan State University. Following the school’s failed handling of complaints about sexual assault from former spots doctor Larry Nassar, the Michigan Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education asked questions about MSU Title Nine Department.

“There changes made prior to my arrival, and then we made more and we’re making more,” Engler said. “We’re clearly, I think, strengthening the lines of accountability, and we’re also adding resources.”

The committee, which hears once a year from different university presidents, has been asking about how schools handle sexual assault cases on their campuses. Former Governor John Engler was appointed president after former President Lou Anna Simon was forced out of the university due to the Nassar fallout.
