Now seeking a second term in the Michigan House representing Van Buren County is state Representative Beth Griffin of Mattawan. She tells WSJM News she filed paperwork on Thursday to run for re-election. Griffin says it’s been a productive year since she took office, and wants more time to serve the 66th District.

“There’s a lot more to do, even though the economy is improving and there are some new jobs out there,” Griffin said. “There are still families, and a lot of them in Van Buren, that are struggling. So, I want to keep being out there, keep listening, and keep working to solve problems and be proactive.”

Griffin points to work last year to reduce energy costs for schools as among her early accomplishments. She tells us skilled trades training would be a focus for a second term. Griffin’s district includes all of Van Buren County, Alamo Township, Cooper Township, and the city of Parchment in Kalamazoo County.
