The Line 5 oil pipeline in the Straights of Mackinac is being inspected by Enbridge. It was shut down on Sunday due to high waves and reopened Monday afternoon. David Holtz is with the Oil and Water Don’t Mix Campaign. He spoke with Michigan News Network.

“We’re in a situation where we’ve been before with Line 5 where it took a while to find out there was damage to the pipeline, and we’re once again having to rely on Enbridge to truthfully report the extent of that damage,” Holtz said.

Holtz says it appears that a ship anchor brushed against the pipes, causing several dents. He says it’s another indication that Line 5 needs to be shut down.
