Shri Thanedar is defending himself against an eight-year old report which has resurfaced online. In 2010, the now leading Democrat in the race for Michigan governor was forced to close a New Jersey-based research clinic due to financial trouble. It said over 100 animals were left behind. Thanedar spoke about the situation with Michigan News Network.

“Bank of America, which had loaned us the money, came knocking on the door, and I told them there are animals that need to be properly cared for, but the bank refused,” Thanedar said. They threw me out of the business, and for three months, they were in charge of the animals, and in July, those animals were released.”

Thanedar says the animals were technically not abandoned. He not surprised such a story is resurfacing as he is now running for governor.
