Monday brought the ribbon cutting for the new the Al-Van Humane Society animal shelter on Blue Star Highway in South Haven. Executive Director Jennifer Nuernberg told WSJM News the move means a lot to the staff.

“Where do we start?” Nuernberg said. “It means so much. It’s been three years of a lot of hard work and fundraising and teamwork. He we are.”

The new adoption center is more than six thousand feet, doubling the size of the previous location. It includes three cat rooms, an open play cat area, a small dog and a separate large dog adoption room. The public is encouraged to stop by and visit the website at Al-Van.org.
