Breweries are experimenting with a new type of beer. It’s a beer infused with marijuana. While recreational marijuana is on the ballot here in Michigan in November, state Senator Rick Jones doesn’t want to wait before tackling this development. He chatted with Michigan News Network about the issue this week.
“Why would you let a disaster happen and then try to play cleanup?” Jones asked. “It’s so much better to play preemptive. The bill will get a hearing next week.”
Jones is proposing a bill to ban the beer in Michigan. Federal studies show that driving stoned is actually safer than driving drunk. However, Jones says as marijuana doesn’t take effect for an hour, it will be difficult for bartenders to prevent over-serving.
