It could be a record summer travel season in west Michigan through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. That’s after it was the busiest May ever with travel up 11.5%. Spokesperson  Tara Hernandez spoke with Michigan News Network about it.

“Summer, we really expected the same thing,” Hernandez said. “We are adding capacity. We have American Airlines adding larger aircraft on our flights to Dallas. Delta is adding more frequency to New York La Guardia. New York is a great place to visit in the summer, and also a great business market for us, United is also adding capacity to Chicago and Denver.”

Hernandez says each month this year has resulted in record breaking passenger numbers. It was a record 2017 with 2.8 million passengers.
