The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College is saluting its Volunteers of the Year. Mainstage Director Grace Kelmer tells us they held their annual volunteer appreciation dinner this month, and named Larry and Linda Becker as the recipients of the award. Kelmer tells us the Mendel Center relies on volunteers.

“We have about 100 active volunteers for the Mendel Center and most of our events, anything on the Main Stage, the Hanson Theater, and most of the events in the Grand Upton Hall as well,” Kelmer said.

The Mendel Center volunteers usher guests to their seats, run the concessions, provide extra security, and make all of the events at the center possible.

“All of the work that they do is invaluable to what we do,” Kelmer said.

Kelmer tells us the Mendel Center volunteer program is in its 27th year, and in the past two years, some volunteers have hit the 25-year mark. Larry and Linda Becker have been volunteers for five years, and Kelmer tells us they excel as ticket-takers. You can find out about being a Mendel Center volunteer by calling.
