Several Drug Raids Revealed

The Southwest Enforcement Team in the past two weeks has collected 56 grams of cocaine, 33 grams of heroin, 12 pounds of marijuana, and eight guns in a series of raids.

SWET tells us on September 26, officers searched a home in the 1,800 block of Ferry Street in Niles Township as part of a cocaine investigation and found more than an ounce of the drug. Arrested was a 41-year-old man.

The next bust was on Tuesday, October 2 in the 1,800 block of East Britain in Benton Township, where police say they found 13 grams of heroin and two guns. A 50-year-old man was arrested.

On Wednesday, October 3, a search for illegal guns in the 900 block of McAllister in Benton Harbor resulted in the collection of two pistols and two long guns and the arrest of a 44-year-old man.

Thursday, October 4 brought a search in the 1,300 block of Broadway in Benton Township which turned up a half ounce of cocaine, 11.5 pounds of marijuana, and a gun. Arrested was a 43-year-old man.

Finally, a search in the 200 block of Garfield in Benton Harbor led to the seizure of one ounce of heroin, marijuana, and a semi-automatic handgun. That search was the culmination of a 10 month investigation, and arrested were a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man.

The Southwest Enforcement Team is a drug enforcement unit is made up of officers from law agencies all over southwest Michigan.
