The latest in a series of “Empty The Shelters” pet adoption events put on by the Bissell Pet Foundation is set for Saturday at more than 60 facilities in the state, including three in southwest Michigan. Kathy Bissell is the foundation’s founder and says it will only cost you the price of a license to take home a new pet.

“We are picking up the adoption fees. We do it to bring awareness for the day and for the animals,” says Bissell.

In southwest Michigan, the Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven, Cass County Animal Control in Cassopolis, and Van Buren County Animal Control in Hartford are taking part. For more information, go to bissellpetfoundation.org.
